Gbox Installation Guide

This guide explains the basic Gbox installation flow, including connection order, power supply notes, and where to continue for drivers, firmware flashing, and testing.

Important Precautions

  • Shut down both computers and disconnect power before installation.
  • Take appropriate anti-static measures when handling hardware.
  • Do not power on Gbox until all connections are properly made.

Hardware Installation Steps

Connection Overview

Gbox connects two PCs via Oculink data cables. Insert the provided Oculink adapter cards into PCIe x1, PCIe x4, or NVMe slots on both the Main PC and the 2nd PC.

  1. Connect FPGA0 to the Main PC using OCULINK0.
  2. Connect FPGA1 to the 2nd PC using OCULINK1.

Power Supply

  • Use a 5V 1A/2A power adapter, such as a phone charger, to power the Gbox through the rear POWER port.
  • Alternatively, if the Gbox is powered by the Main PC, always power on the Main PC first, before turning on the 2nd PC.

Recommended Power-On Sequence

  1. Turn on the Main PC, which is connected to FPGA0.
  2. Wait 2-3 seconds.
  3. Turn on the 2nd PC, which is connected to FPGA1.
Why this matters: This sequence helps avoid initialization failure and ensures stable communication.

Driver Installation, Firmware & Usage

Gbox uses the same drivers, firmware flashing process, and testing procedures as ZDMA. For setup instructions, please refer to the ZDMA guides below.

Installation Complete

After all connections are secured and power is applied, you may begin firmware flashing and start high-speed DMA data transmission with Gbox.
